That's a great idea OC, I think around labor day weekend would be good. It would give everbody enough time to plan and schedule traveling if they are coming from out of town. And if they are we need to coordinate where they will stay. We had discussed this before but it didn't get farther than the idea. But we REALLY need to get it poppin' because we have grown in numbers and our bond is stronger now than it was in the beginning. I think I speak for everyone when I say we are all BROTHERS now..and don't forget we have a little sister now. We gotta hold her down too. So let's really get this thing going, we could make this the hottest labor day bash of 2009. With the gear, we could get Kid and Double P to do the music, and I KNOW we got some fellas' who can put it down on da grill. So WAKE UP BWB/S Let's Go!!

An old school bbq sounds like a good idea. As for the old skool tunes, I did a couple of online unmixed mixshows with a lot of late 80's to early 90's rap/hip hop - I'm finally getting around to fiddling around with my blog site (http://doublepromo.blogspot.com/) - you can either stream the mixes or download them. They are encoded as 160kbps mp3's so each mixshow is about 90MB in size. Some of my fave tunes.

SID is Rakim's cousin and went to school with me in NC back in the day.. We use to DJ for the schools down there. I think it's the only Jam SID made.. dont know the name of it. Waddup BWB Nat you talkin bout, "You're Bliiind and you cant see you need to wear some glasses like DMC" thats song 7 on King of Rock album. I used to bang that all day in 85. Yo Shamgod you know me and Nat and Mix Master Ice be there, who else can commit, this might be our first get together not a bad idea being though its already planned arrangements already made, then we can pivot off that and plan our first all BWB joint now how dat sound. Peace Dee

DoublePromo - June 08, 2009 - Mark this comment as inappropriate
Yeah that was Cutmaster DC "Brooklyn's In The House" - that was the shizzz back in the day. This is when everyone fronted and said they were from Brooklyn. Not me - I always wore my Boogie Down Bronx" badge with honor wherever I went. The grimiest cats in Brooklyn always had love for The Bronx and Harlem, at least in my journeys over the years.

Ocie, yes that's my collection of Cazal frames - I just copped another pair - some 8001's - http://www.decormyeyes.com/Shades/ProductImages/6/8001-125-main2.jpg - I was rocking the 984's (with the big Cazal logo on the side) @ a bbq this weekend and had the old skool heads hawkin' them big-time.

DoublePromo- you those Joints are hot.. I just ordered the old school Run DMC 607 Cazals.. but just trying to start a collection. I dont have the long bills like you do..What is the model of the old school cazals in your collection with the gold bar in the middle.. I love them back in the day.. Saw one on ebay for 1200.00 Dang.. brotha can do that.. LOL.. Just wanted to give you the props.. and I know you killed them the weekend with those joints.. Keep it moving my Brotha.. Peace to all my BWB's and sista Sha
doublepromo - June 09, 2009 - Mark this comment as inappropriate
Ocie, the ones with the gold bar across the top is model #616 and they did cost a grip. The seller wanted $975 and I talked him down to $700. I've seen a pair sell for as low as $400 on eBay but they were a bit scuffed up but in good condition - the ones I got were a display item in a German optometrist store and were mint so I didn't mind spending the extra green especially when I got them in the mail (I think I got a semi when I opened the box and saw them LOL). The 607's are definitely the shizzz ..... I really want to get the 607 clear frames but I gotta haggle with one of the sellers first.

I see you mentioning club Zanzibar there. That's one of the clubs that I regret never making it to - been to a few other joints in Jerz back in the day but can't remember the names right now. Mid-late 80's clubbing was where it was at. Leviticus, Red Zone, The Underground, Palladium, Latin Quarters, Paradise Garage (making sure you went on the right night LOL), etc. The last time I remember going to the Garage was back in July/August 1987 - me, a good friend of mine and these two chicks rolled up and the line was so long to get in the club that we just parked on the side where the windows were open and you could hear the music, cracked open the big bottle of Jack Daniels, and we partied out in the street with everyone else. Lots of good times back then, when you heard a serious mixture of r&b, rap/ hip hop, reggae/soca, and house music. I can't get with the 20-something club mentality nowadays but then I guess I'm not supposed to. But about Zanzibar, the closest I got to it was listening to Tony Humphries on KISS-FM on Friday and Saturday nights when they would do live broadcasts. I'm still one of the biggest househeads to this day.

Yes, I'm familar with that vintage sunglasses site. They overcharge way too much for their stuff, to the point that some of their items they've sold cheaper on eBay. I tried to get a pair of 951's from them at a cheaper price than the $1000+ they were asking for and they wouldn't budge - found a pair on Detroit's Craigslist for $400 - the whole kit and all (case, both straps, side lenses, etc).

Yo Inc, I was @ the first Sunday Shoutin with Tony Humphries, Louie Vega and David Morales- the party was insane. I'll likely be @ the next one too. Magee, you're bringin' me back with the legendary names of the graffiti dons - Mitch77, PJay, Skeme - also the classic throw-ups by Dondi, Seen, Blade (he used to include his girl Dolores on some of his tags), and the masterpiece that Futura2000 created that for a long time everyone respected enough to never tag over except for that douchebag Cap. I remember the days of standing on the Tremont Avenue 2/5 train line where the train curves into the station just to look at the graffiti trains. All those classic tags you could see once the 4 train came outdoors towards the Yankee Stadium station. I never did get to go to The Bench down there by 149th and 3rd Ave 'cause I was decent at graffiti but my game wasn't that tight and I didn't have a lay-up / black book full of tags. If what I'm reading is correct, Mike's got some more British Walkers but he's charging a yard for them now? If he's got some Ice lace-ups 9.5 I'mma cop a pair tomorrow.
DoublePromo - June 10, 2009 - Mark this comment as inappropriate

Oh yeah, I remember seeing those UA tags back in the day - the "United Arists" graffiti writers - dudes was straight sick with their skills. My brain ain't what it used to be i.e. remembering the names of the graffiti writers back in the day but the ones that left a lasting impression on me were by Seen, Dondi (part of the infamous CIA) and the infamous "Children Of The Grave" that was on three subway cars (part 2 was the illest one - http://www.dondiciakings.com/cotg.jpg/train2_DONDI_COTG_2.jpg) - Mitch77 had some sick tags too, Cope2, and will all due respect to all the graffiti legends, Futura2000 created this LEGENDARY tag .... http://www.graffiti.org/trains/fu2000-train01.jpg - I remember seeing it all the time at the 149th Stret / 3rd Avenue 2/5 train station, remember back in the day when they had the walkway tunnel that went underground to get to the other side and the staircase that led to the 3rd Avenue El train? Yeah I'm taking it way back. Back when it was called cheeba, your Lee jeans were mad creased and shiny from ironing them too much and you had stitched-in creases down the front and back of the jean legs.
