Sorry about that - I did a copy and paste and included Lynne's comment with my reply . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Lynne, in the mid-80's, sneakers were becoming a bit more fashionable on the streets due to hip hop culture and rappers such as Slick Rick aka Rick the Ruler aka MC Ricky Dee started talking about higher end fashion. European tennis style sneakers such as Fila, Sergio Tacchini, Diadora, Ellesse, and Gucci became very popular, and Dapper Dan, who in the early-mid 80's was making custom clothing including jackets and pants with the Gucci and Louis Vuitton and MCM and Vangrack and Fendi logos on them, which was a precursor to those respective high-end designers then emulating what Dapper Dan did (take a look at the movie "Paid In Full" and at Eric B and Rakim's "Paid In Full" and "Follow The Leader" album covers for what the Dapper one could do with material).
